You can get insurance if you are an ex wife of a marine. USAA offers membership to spouses after divorce. If the spouse already has an active membership, they can continue to keep their membership. You will be transferred out of your spouse’s account and given a new account by USAA. You can continue using your banking facilities and insurance policies including car insurance, property insurance and renters insurance. If the policies are in joint names, you can enjoy the benefits by transferring the policies in your individual name. Spouses are not eligible if they remarry an ineligible person. Please call USAA at 1-800-531-8722 and ask to speak to a member of their eligibility team. They have a special team to help with separation and divorce. If you are not satisfied with their solution to your problem, you can ask for a review by their insurance specialist.
