Trustgard Insurance is no longer available directly, but the company does continue to underwrite policies, both for the parent company and through independent agents and brokers. In this way, the Trustgard brand lives on, even though the company itself exists only in the books.

Company History
Trustgard Insurance was incorporated as a stock company in 1981. During the economic turmoil of 2007-2008, Trustgard Insurance was acquired by the Grange Mutual Casualty Pool, a cooperative insurance pool comprised of many different insurance companies. At the time of their acquisition, Trustgard Insurance held nearly 68 million dollars in assets.

Company Ratings
Trustgard Insurance is rated as a subsidiary of the Grange Mutual Casualty Pool. The parent company and its subsidiaries was last rated in June of 2012, when the A.M. Best Company gave it a rating of "A" (Excellent). However, that same rating resulted in a long term rating of "a+," with a negative long term outlook. Before you purchase a policy from Grange Insurance, be sure to check with the A.M. Best Company to find out if the ratings have changed.

Insurance Products Offered
Trustgard Insurance offered, and still continues to underwrite, policies for vehicles, homes, and business interests. Vehicles insurance includes cars, motorcycles, RVs, ATVs, boats, among others. Home insurance includes homeowners policies, renters insurance and condo insurance. Trustgard Insurance does not provide flood or other high risk insurance. Business insurance includes Workers Comp, loss management, commercial auto, and other liability and casualty policies.
