The number of courses and credits you are taking will not affect whether or not you are eligible under your parents' auto or health insurance. In both cases, the requirements for eligibility are related to where you live and how old you are, not how much of your time is spent receiving an education. On the other hand, people with a Bachelor's Degree or better are eligible for special insurance discounts, so it is in the best interests of the student to pursue a degree that will automatically save them money.
Up until the age of 25, the children are eligible for coverage on their parent or guardian's policy, as long as they still live at home or are housed in another location while attending college. Once the offspring have gotten their own residence and begun taking on the responibilities of being self-supporting, insurance companies will require the young driver to purchase their own policy. Insurance rates are partially based on the location of the person's residence, and moving out of your parent's home is likely to change the risk factors associated with insuring you.
