Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance has been in business since 1946, responding to the needs of southern farmers for life insurance. Focusing on the farm-related communities allowed the company to better serve those needs. Other insurance products were added to the offerings of SFBLI, including home, auto and other casualty and liability insurance products.
Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance is well-ranked by companies such as the A.M. Best Company. Best has given SFBLI a financial rating of A+, only one step below the top financial rating given by the A.M. Best Company. The company is estimated to have assets in excess of 2 billion dollars as of April 2012. The long term rating of SFBLI is "aa-," meaning the company is financially stable but still has room for future improvement.
SFBLI is focused on customers, not accounts. Since SFBLI is sold primarily through dedicated agents and online sales, they are able to give more time to customers, providing them with a high degree of company information and a level of SFBLI-related customer service not available through other sources.
SFBLI is only available in the Southeastern United States. In time, the company expanded into other states outside of the original location of Mississippi. The 11 states where SFBLI is available today are Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia, and include both small towns and large cities.
Insurance Products Offered
SFBLI began as a life insurance company, but has grown over the years, providing a complete range of insurance products to rural and farming communities. Today, life insurance is still a major offering, but customers also have access to home and auto insurance, along with a range of farm and commercial liability coverage.
