National General Insurance was previously GMAC Insurance Group. It became National General Insurance on July 1, 2013. The Karfunkels own this insurance company, and this insurance's holding company is National General Holdings Corp., NASDAQ: NGHC.
This insurance group is now one of the biggest auto insurance companies in the United States. And as a result, they have claims professionals nationwide as well as a 24/7 toll-free claims hotline for their clients.
Insurance Products Offered
National General Insurance group offers a full array of insurance products which include the following: auto insurance, RV insurance, home insurance, claims center, commercial vehicle, GM Motor Club, Mexico Insurance, motorcycle insurance, collector/classic car insurance, Medicare supplement health insurance, asset protection for lenders, condo insurance, flood insurance, umbrella coverage, and earthquake insurance. The flood insurance is provided by their national flood insurance program. Also, roadside assistance is available, but it's provided through the GM Motor Club.
It's already noted that they provide 24 hour services; however, reports have shown an overall rating of only average when it comes to customer satisfaction. With J.D. Power & Associates, they were rated a 2 out of 5 when it comes to the purchase experience, and a 3 out of 5 with the satisfaction of the claims process and overall customer satisfaction.
States they sell Insurance in
With the exception of Arkansas, reports show that this insurance group sells and operates their products through more than 10,000 independent brokers and agents throughout the US. However, it's difficult to locate individual listings of them in different states, according to J.D. Power & Associates. One reason this is the case is because some of them are listed under other business names of independent brokers/agents.
With this company being Better Business Bureau accredited, providing a full range of insurance products, and 24/7 claims services are available 365 days per year, National General Coverage may be considered a good company in those regards. On the other hand, the customers' overall satisfaction is average due to such things as the holding times over the phone and the purchase experience.
