I chose my agent because I knew them from a work relationship. And because once they reviewed what coverage I was looking for with my home and cars, they were able to offer me a lower rate on both. I had a very small claim with my last agent (8 years ago), and when I needed assistance they were not available because their office had a flood and it put them out of contact for well over a week. I felt if they could not be there to help their self they would no be there for me. So when I changed to my current agents, I got a husband and wife team. I can always get in contact with one or the other of them. My only complaint is every year I have a rate increase on both car and homeowners. It seems the older my car gets the more insurance I’m having to pay. I sort of think my agent could have some control over that, but they say they don’t.
