Guilty of neglect
BCBS uses Accredo & Express Scripts to administer prescription medication. For 16 months I’ve been taking Humira injections for crippling Arthritis, which helps me to live a somewhat normal life. I order my medication monthly and receive confirmation of my home delivery date. I have not really had a problem with receiving my medication until this month 12/2019. I ordered my Humira around the second week of December and received an email confirmation that it would be delivered to my home on 12/27/19 which was cutting it a little close to my scheduled injection due date of 12/29/19 but with the Holidays I understood. Now comes the problem, on 12/26/19 the day before my medication should have arrived I received an email stating my order couldn’t be shipped because of review and needing a AP. Now this mess will take a week or more to get sorted out causing me to suffer in pain while waiting. Arthritis is not a joke and can literally make your life hell on earth. I am extremely upset and disappointed in Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance company for requesting a review and PA a day before I should have received the medication that allows me to get out of bed and lead a somewhat normal daily life. Sadly only missing my scheduled injection time by a day or so has a sufficient effect on my joint pain and fatigue. If my medication is delayed a couple of weeks because of BCBS I will be in great daily pain, fatigue and stress, just getting out of bed will be almost impossible. Thank you Blue Cross Blue Shield for being such a great insurance provider. Please don’t respond to this message with how sorry you are for me that this has happened and offer me a number or email address to contact because you’re apologizing will not do anything for my pain and suffering due to your neglect.

BCBS did not credit us for out of pocket expenses
We surpassed out of pocket expenses of $5000.00 in April of 2019. Still fighting to get bills incurred after that paid. We have 4 remaining unpaid claims, two of which are now in collections.

Horrible Customer Service
One hour on the phone for the most basic questions while have medical condition. Agents are not friendly and absolutely not helpful. The goal seems to bury the caller under an administrative paperwork. Please help yourself, run !

Worst Customer Service Ever
I need my medication — Blue Cross requires a written request from my doctor — in addition to the prescription — to approve my medication. They never give warning that the review period is coming up. Yesterday they told me it would be 24 hours before I could get my meds I needed this morning; today they tell me 24 to 72 more hours. I could literally die and they would not care. Horrible people. Horrible, horrible people.

THEY SUCK
This insurance fucking sucks. I’m a nursing student who had to get the flu shot, funny how CVS does it free for MOST insurances accept this one. Need to go to urgent care? Prepare to pay because this insurance doesn’t cover it no matter the importance. Can’t even imagine the ambulance bill in case of an emergency. All in all, Blue Shield sucks and I can’t wait to find better insurance.

Insurance policy's cost to rise, coverage decline
My company decide to offer BCBS, I thought I was getting better coverage, stupid me. I am type two diabetic, and for years, my foot care was covered under the other health care provides. I would have to pay the co-pay, and the insurance company would pay the contracted amount. Now with BCBS, they are telling me that they have my foot doctor as an out of network doctor, however, other patients the doctor has with BCBS, and they are covered, I guess because they have different policies, which sucks, if I had know that I was going to be getting worse coverage, I could have stayed with my previous provider. Also, I cannot access my claims on line, when I go to enter the member ID on my insurance card, guess what, they are telling me that it is invalid, I’ve tried to contact them, however it is very difficult to get through. BCBS just want’s my money and they do not wish to cover office visits that other provides do.
Bottom line, is due to this, I cannot afford to continue to see my foot doctor, god only know’s what other complications will lie ahead for me, I guess I will have see my primary care physician, however it will probably be too late, and will probably have to go to the emergency room for care, which will cost more, at least then BCBS will have to cover it. Yes, I know I probably could look into another doctor, butI have been going to my doctor for years, he know’s my condition, now I would have to seek someone who is a total stranger, especially when they cover other patients with my doctor, all because I have shitty coverage. Health care just continues to sink and sink and sink for us. I wish we had politicians who actually care about us and would do something with the insurance companies, but when they keep lining there pockets, it’s a use less cause.

Worst customer service ever!
They cancelled my policy without warning and notified me 2 weeks later.
After 2 weeks of hassle, they said they would give me a new policy, but they took my money under false pretenses and still didn’t give me any insurance.
After another 2 weeks of hassle they finally agreed to return my money (keeping my fingers crossed for this one).

Received letter informing us our provider was not going to be in new network. Told us to go to bcbs website to find new provider. Website tool would not work without the name of the network which was not provided in the letter, so I tried calling ances ward informed that all team members are currently in a meeting” and I should try back later. It’s been more than an hour. “

careless and greedy
I and a sibling of mine have BCBS and She is in need of surgery. The only actual option on removal are some doctors that are out of network. They took literally all the time in the world to even approve them as out of network and the surgery date when the surgery date was scheduled a week away. The hospital had to cancel the surgery because it took that long to get an approval. 2 months of WAITING to get any sort of approval. She would have had the surgery a month and a half ago and would probably be out of recovery by now. But now, she’s extremely sick and can’t even get out of bed. I swear there are no human beings working at BCBS, only heartless Swine.

horrible service
I have spent hours on he phone correcting an error BC/BS made. They quoted me one thing before I had my child and then doubled that fee after she was born retroactively. Then they found their error (after I sat in the phone for hours) and said they would reprocess. Turns out it never was reprocessed. I was sent to a collection agency for this crazy amount of money. Now I’ve been in the phone with 4 different people at BC BS each one incompetent or lies that it’s fixed. Only to find out once again it’s not. This company is scamming people out of money and finding ways to skirt around their own errors. Plus the amount of money I’ve paid each month to cover my family for years is absurd. avoid this insurance company at all costs.

Utterly Worthless Insurance
BCBS of Texas is utterly worthless. The premiums are expensive, the coverage is nothing worth mentioning, they are slow to process claims. I work for the state of Texas; none of my coworkers are happy with the insurance. We are hoping to convince leadership to change companies.

Poor Communication
My father suffered a severe brain stem stroke January 23rd, 2018. My parents have had Blue Cross Blue Shield for over 20 years. My dad was scheduled to leave tomorrow 4/11/18 to go to Pate Rehabilitation in Anna, TX tomorrow morning. They called today 4/10/18 and said that we have been denied. Something about a clause, I stopped listening after that, because I was fuming mad. We had a going away party, planned time off to travel with him and now we have to find somewhere for him to go in the next 24 hours. I have said all along insurance is a joke, and to no surprise they just keep proving my point. It’s not just Blue Cross its all insurance. They are all scammers. How can you not partly cover a stroke victims rehabilitation. Do you want them to be vegetables the rest of their lives? I will be writing a negative review on every source I can find for Blue Cross. THIS IS WRONG!!

denied life saving surgery
I am seeking any way I can to get the word out about insurance companies giving death sentences to women diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. I have Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield N.J. health insurance.
Three and a half years ago (October of 2014) I received a diagnosis of Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer.
I began treatment with IV chemo, surgery (complete hysterectomy) followed by more IV chemo. By June of 2015 I was in remission. I was in remission for two years. Two weeks before Christmas in 2017 I was told the cancer was growing. It had now spread to the liver, spleen and diaphragm. My doctors at Cancer Treatment Center of America, Chicago told me my best (and only option quite honestly) is a procedure called HIPEC Surgery. Without this procedure, the cancer will continue to spread. Our insurance pre-certification was submitted and surgery was scheduled for Tuesday, March 20, 2018. On Friday, March 16, after a day of pre-op testing, BCBSNJ notified the hospital the claim was being denied. This was an hour before everything shut down for the weekend. The reason? BCBSNJ is calling it experimental. This procedure was approved by the FDA in 1999. Two appeals have been filed and denied.
How can they say no to a life-saving operation that has been performed for 20 years?! I have spoken to others who have had the same diagnosis, received the procedure and are living healthy lives today. So yes, there are insurance companies that do approve this.
My husband and I are middle class people. He has worked for the same company for 38 years and always thought his insurance would be there when he needed it for either of us.
BCBSNJ needs to update their coverage! Please sign my petition and share it. Ovarian Cancer is a devastating disease, but there are procedures that can eradicate it. Insurance companies should be in business to help save lives ““ not condemn women to a death sentence because of outdated policies!

Stinks
Had my meds covered last year. Now came this new year they will not cover it. (Was covering butrans now they do not want to) want to put me on the most deadliest med fentanyl and they will cover it. First of all I WILL NEVER GO ON THAT MED. I HAD A BROTHER IN LAW LAST YEAR ALMOST DIE ON IT. When time comes I will be looking for another insurance if they do not cover it. So anyone out there reading this DO NOT SIGN UP WITH BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD. BUNCH OF LIERS.

Do not call nurseline
I called the nurseline because i was unsure if i should take my daughter to urgent care or wait until the dr office opened. It was 1 am. A lady answered saying she was a registered nurse. I explained to her that my daughters fever spiked 30 mins after i gave her motrin. It started out as 102 but then it was 103.7. She was shivering really bad shaking the whole bed and i just needed to know if i should take her to urgent care or not. She said ok. Let me ask u a few questions. ” i said ok. She said “does she have a fever?” I said “yes, i just told you that.” She asked “is she acting sick or is she acting like herself?” Confused i said “i can tell shes not feeling well.” She says “how can you tell?” By that time i was over her. I said “are u really a registered nurse? All i want to know is if i should take her to urgent care or if it can wait til the dr office opens.” She said “im asking questions, you need to be patient.” I said “just forget it. I dont think you know what you’re doing.” She said “ok, have a good day.” I felt like she was reading a script and not really a registered nurse. You shouldnt have people answering the nurse line if theyre not qualified to do that. That was the worst experience that ive had in my life!”

The Worst I have had in 30 years
They arbitrarily cancel your policy for none payment”, the refer you to doctors, MRI clinics and then deem them “Out of Network”. Some Doctors will not even take you on anymore if you have Anthem Blue Cross. Their customer support line connects you to a day care center.

Every year my premium goes up and my coverage goes down. Yet, the high executives at BCBS get bigger raises and bonuses each year. After my daughter graduates college, I will change to another insurance company!!

Unprofessional customer service
My plan was changed without my consent. they charged me 500$ without letting me know. The agent who spoke to me on the phone was slow and unprofessional, made me wait more than half an hour. Issue still not resolved. For sure going to file complaint.

over priced and worst customer service ever
A short time after beginning our policy with BCBS our policy was fully subsidized by Obama Care. We weren’t asked if we needed help nor did we ask for any assistance. When i called to find out what we weren’t being charged i spoke to 7 different people between market place and BCBS before getting a straight answer. The cover was crap but i wasnt going to argue about a free policy. Recently they decided to change my policy or enroll me in a new policy without my consent. The new policy monthly premium is $1400. for $1400 a month I can comfortably insure my family of 4 without BCBS. I called to cancel the policy and was treated so bad i could barely stay on the phone. The phone call is recorded on my end and i wish i could upload it. they couldn’t talk me into keeping the policy or changing to a different policy that was more expensive so they decided to hang up however the guy was to stupid to figure out how to disconnect the call. I recorded him saying this guy isn’t going to choose a new policy so i’m trying to hang up on him but it won’t disconnect” He had to get someone to help him end my call. Called a second time after having already been on the phone for 30 mins and had to be transferred 3 times before talking to a guy who said he could help. Very nice guy possibly a manager. ultimately he could not help but he stayed on with the lady he transferred me to just to make sure everything went well. She was very nice and got the policy canceled and assured me I would not receive and further charges from BCBS. Today they took $1400 from my account without permission. So I had to call the bank and report fraud on my account and now might have to close a business account I’ve had for over 10 years. I will tell everyone everywhere as long as i live of how BCBS treated me through all of this. What a real piece of junk business to treat people like this. I hope this post stops even one person from signing up with this poor excuse for health care coverage. “

Don't waste your time with this company
My wife and I have been members with BCBS for over 6 years now. Mind you, I pay extra every month to ensure 100% coverage in network minus copay. Reason for unsatisfactory review: My wife whom is now 9 months pregnant was having early contractions around 27 weeks in which her doctor scheduled her a visit to go to the hospital and have some testing done. Nothing to outrageous, just some blood work and monitoring of the babies heartbeat. Next thing you know, I get a bill 2 months later for $350. I call BCBS about it and they claim the testing was “not justifiable/experimental ” in which is why I am being billed for it. It was recommended that her doctor send in documentation stating why the tests were done but to no avail. I’m now being asked to appeal the charges which according to my coverage, should already be covered in the first place. If you got plenty of time on your hands to run around and file appeals for coverage that your entitled too, than BCBS is going to be a great fit for you. It’s not about the money, it’s the principle behind it. Be aware when you sign up for coverage that what your doctor “recommends” for your best care may not be covered under your policy that claims 100% coverage.

Terrible!
We’ve had nothing but problems with bcbs since we signed up through the marketplace. We are constantly on the phone with customer service even speaking with supervisors who don’t seem to know what’s going on. Even though we’ve made our payments on time they keep saying we didn’t pay or we owe more and then get a refund check in the mail. We called to see why and they didn’t know said it was bc we canceled our dental plan… well the next month comes along and we get a letter saying we owe for 3 months now! We call AGAIN to see what’s going on and after being on the phone for hours they have to call back tomorrow bc they need to review everything more and get back to us… really. We only have bcbs bc we are a small business and they are the only company we can use. I’m to the point where I’m about to cancel and just pay the government penalty so I don’t have to deal with their BS anymore

Horrible and Worthless
My neurosurgeon arrived at the decision I needed surgery because I cannot feel my legs. It’s caused from a disc pinching nerves. Twice he submitted for the surgery and was denied both times. Each time he submitted doing it a different way to save money for them. Even talked to them and expressed the urgency of the surgery still denied. I have went through physical therapy and I had one steroid injection which I had allergic reaction to and nearly ended my life. My doctor has all the test showing surgery is only option to get me back on my feet. Nothing else helps. Insurance doesn’t care they say no. I’m 35 and stuck in a bed and in pain constantly. I’m missing out on my children’s lives because I cannot function. I was forced to get this insurance because it was my only option . I pay triple what I paid through my job for this worthless insurance and they won’t do what my doctors see as medical necessary. My doctor has gotten so mad and red faced saying himself they don’t care about the patients they only care about their money. What’s the point in having and paying for something that doesn’t care about your well being or giving you the coverage you’re paying for. They are worthless, heartless, and a crooked company. Don’t waste your time or your money on this insurance they will not help you when you need it no matter the circumstances.

Fep bc bs basic plan, This is doesn’t cover squat for prescriptions, they need prior authorizations for scripts so often I’ve never had worse company, they have a hidden deductible that’s called something else in order to fool you. I can’t wait to be done with it

NO WAY TO REACH ANYONE WITH KNOWLEDGE
Getting through their automated voice recognition phone lines requires skill and cunning – it seems designed to deter people from calling back by always sending you to the wrong department. Its voice recognition completes fails on every accord. When you do get someone, they will have a VERY thick accent which will make it impossible to at times to understand (again, it seems designed to deter you from seeking any help from them). They will often send you to another department, at which time your call will be dropped (about 70% of the time). On your 5th or 6th call back, when you are frustrated and at wits end, the employee may just hang up on you (but you are actually grateful, because they didn’t keep you on hold for 10 minutes listening to insipid music, only THEN to hang up on you). But hey, at least their rates are insanely high.

Time4 to do ANYTHING
Every time I need to call Customer Service I have to plan on spending AT LEAST an hour. Navigating menu’s, getting someone on the phone that doesn’t know crap then being transferred to someone else and going through more menu’s THEN, GETTING DISCONNECTED. Today, I’m trying to simply find a new doctor and the online search listing that results after I put in the specialty criteria lists a whole lot of doctor’s, none of which are the one I am looking for. I call and the ONLY option is to give me the list on the phone. They can’t email it and she tried to send me to someone that might be able to help and of course, I GOT DISCONNECTED. I had Kaiser, wasn’t especially pleased and moved to Blue Cross and they are MUCH worse!!!

Decent coverage but controlling
They switched my medication without going through my doctor due to it being cheaper for them. The new medication is not as effective and they declined my switch back to the old medication. Currently appealing it.

Incompetent administrators
I asked for a Notice of Cancellation because my insurance with BCBS will end when I move out of state. I called and asked for a Notice of Cancellation due to moving out of state. I need the notice immediately so I can immediately apply for a new medical policy in another state. They could not email me the Notice and told me it would take them 7-10 business days to mail it to me. I waited 10 days. It finally came and the letter was a notice of my coverage not my Notice of Cancellation. Today is Friday. I have to wait 3 more days until Monday to contact them, since they don’t open on weekends to deal with customers. Then I will have to wait another 10 days to get the correct letter sent to me in the mail.
With all the technology today, they could not email me a PDF file of the letter. It has to be mail. They couldn’t even tell me what is written on the letter. This means a total of 23 days before I can get a simple notice.

Horrible coverage- should be option for zero stars
BCBS denies a vital medication/treatment which has been proven and documented to shield (excuse the pun) you from pain and improve your overall quality of life by improving your mobility – this has to do with gel injections into your knee which is, for all practical purposes, bone on bone. I believe this to be inhumane and cruel, especially considering that I pay almost 200.00 a month to Blue Shield each and every month which they have no problem with taking. I guess they would rather pay thousands of dollars for total knee replacement and 3 days inpatient hospitalization than pay for an injection that does not require a hospital stay. Also claims are processed incorrectly- I fought for 8 months to have claims reprocessed because they kept denying claims staying providers were out of network. Took 8 months to finally get those claims paid because all providers were in network. The only thing that Blue Shield of CA is great at is taking your money

Unable to receive allergy prescription
Blue Cross Blue Shield has decided to play doctor, instead of letting the doctor treat the patient. I had an allergy nasal spray prescribed by my allergist and BCBS denied it, even after my physician submitted the pre authorization paperwork. I’ve had other meds in the past that did not agree with me, I tried a sample of the medication and it worked well, but the insurance company denied it. It took a week to find this out, in the meantime, I’ve been suffering from allergy symptoms. I pay over $4,000 a year out of my check and my employer pays more than that. It’s not right that I can’t get the medication I need, especially when I pay such a high cost for the coverage. Why should I pay for it, if I can’t even use it?

They are horrible
If you can avoid insurance thru BCBS I suggest you run. I broke my foot they processed the claim and I was billed 1 year ago and paid over $500 out of my pocket. Six months later they said we made a mistake you were suppose to pay more and a year later I am having to pay $500 more because they made a mistake from the beginning. I have filed my complaints and they do not care. They will not admit when they are wrong and make it right for those who pay their bills. Horrible….

So far....so good.
Having recently chosen as an HMO, I did’nt know what to expect in this world of ‘hidden’ surprises. Earlier this week, while sitting on my couch in Milwaukee, I got a call from a ‘case worker’. Great, I thought, here comes some more bad news. On the contrary! This rep named Deb was very pleasant and informed me I was eligible for things I never knew. Whoever does the hiring for this posistion, kudos to you! You could’nt ask for a better spokesperson for your company. She was ‘people friendly’ and not at all the usual rhetoric of ‘hey…lets get this done because I have quota to fill’. She went out of her way to inform me and help me out in my situation. I realize everybodys case is differant, but once again…..so far, so good. What a good feeling after I hung. Thanks Deb…..you rock! Your company probably wishes it had 1000 more like you.

I paid my premium 3 and 1/2 months in ADVANCE!!!! They lost the premiums, allegedly. Canceled my insurance with no notice, then canceled NEXT YEARS!! !! We have no insurance, They found the mistake, uhoh sorry. It we won’t fix it. Can’t a lawyer around here that doesn’t work for them,

Complete waste of time and money
I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Neighborhood Network. This is the absolute worst Insurance I’ve ever had. I’ve called over a hundred doctors in the valley and nobody takes this insurance. I am stuck with it until the end of the year. My recommendation is find somebody else anybody else!!

Horrible!! Robbed me blind!!!
I wasn’t eligible for Medicaid anymore so my only choice was Blue Cross Blue Shield. I’m unemployed, stay at home mom. My husband only makes 2,000 a month. We have two kids. My monthly premium was $70!!!!! And my deductible was $6,400!!!!! I was having to pay the monthly premium PLUS EVERYTHING out of pocket. I call to talk to customer service and all they can say is I’m sorry you feel that way”. How the hell can anyone survive on that?!?? I could hardly pay the monthly bill much less all that out of pocket. 100 dollars a month to see my doctor, and medications that costs hundreds. How can I afford that ?!?! It’s insane!!! So now I’m back to square one with no health insurance because I can’t afford it!!!!!!”

If at all possible, never buy this insurance. Their customer service is the worst around. They never communicate with each other, one person says one thing then another person says another thing. And they are always, and I mean always hanging up on you; then why ask for a call back number ? Damn cowards! You take our money and give crappy service in return .

What is Wrong with our Country
I have employer BCBS health insurance and pay a good amount monthly. I was in a automobile accident and had neck surgery, I will have to pay back out of my settlement (subrogation) what BCBS paid to my medical providers, I have no problem with that but they paid the hospital the full billing amount from the hospital of the surgery $90K plus without taking any discounts, I have tried to call and ask why since even the hospital has never had this before but they won’t give me any information. They knew I would have to pay them back so they did this even though this will take most of my settlement why do I even pay for insurance. I had neck surgery prior with BCBS as my employee sponsored insurance and they took at 69% discount so why now you just want your profits because you know we can’t do shit about it, hope your family has this problem one day.

INCOMPETENCE
This is the WORST insurance company I have ever seen!!!!!! They complicate the most simple things such as picking up a monthly prescription. There is always some sort of complication that can never be solved immediately or even in a reasonable time period. These issues are repetitive, this insurance company is the worst. I do not recommend to anyone!!!! This is the absolute worst insurance option and I cannot wait till the day my parents are done supporting me and I can find a more suitable, competent, efficient insurance company. Blue cross blue shield, Florida Blue, or whatever else you wanna call yourselves: YOU SUCK and deserve every horrible review you have gotten.

SERVICE SUCKS!!
I have been having some troubles with ordering prescriptions. The pharmacist wants to charge me 400 bucks after my deductible has been made. I have contacted BCBS several times and nothing has been done. They told me they would have it fixed yesterday, but no one called back. I left 3 messages yesterday with the case manager. Can you help? Any suggestions?

So, as you can see, the case started on March 20th, but I actually called them a few days before that and they gave me an incomplete case number. I have psoriasis and it gets worse when I can’t get my meds and if I get frustrated! Well, I AM FRUSTRATED. I am at the point where I need to get lawyers involved or go to channel 12 or 10.

Not Transparent, not trustworthy
15 yrs with them, with individual coverage. I would have quit them long ago, but sometimes you fear what u don’t know, especially because this is about my health. Finally quit because of Medicare age. I cancelled prior to going on Medicare but they withdrew a payment from my bank anyways. Automated payments work for them, but they can’t return my money by direct deposit. Don’t have it yet. Not transparent because their website doesn’t tell me about what is covered, never has. If I ever questioned what coverage I had, they took many calls before sending me any info. Last time they sent me coverage info for an Affordable Healthcare Plan, but did not cover me as such, denied claim. When I call about prescription cost, they tell me it will cost so much, but at the pharmacist it is a different cost. Prior to the Affordable Healthcare Act, my premiums went up 50% in 2 yrs. While AHA was being negotiated, it only went up 1%. Interesting at best! After it went up, this last yr it went up 14%, $130 more each month. I thinks it takes a long time when calling because they have so many options and plans that even they don’t know what’s going on. Not transparent on coverage, not trustworthy on many things. Glad it’s over. Everyone deserves healthcare, and it should be single payer.

customer service on a recorded line tells me 1 pair of glasses with no restrictions on options would be covered by my policy after cataract surgery. claim was denied. appeal was denied. my last letter says too much time has elapsed since the initial denial decision.

Denied Payment After Instructed to Use a Doctor
We were informed by BCBS that a particular service was covered, and instructed where to go. They said to pay cash up front and that we would be reimbursed (they even mailed the appropriate forms to us). They then denied coverage, even after the appeals process. No accountability. Terrible customer service.

Don't waste your money
BCBS MS used to be good insurance. Now, you’d better pray you don’t have to use it because all they have to do is not approve any treatment plan your doctor provides. They don’t give a reason why, (they don’t have to) the answer will always be no. Not to mention your deductible goes up every year with the price per month. It’s so nice to pay over $500 per month for a plan that you can’t use. Don’t waste your money.

Denied
I knew my insurance was ending. I called a BCBS Rep. to make sure I would still be COVERED for my appointment on such date. She told me yes” up until midnight that night. WELL, SHE WAS WRONG! Now I have a bill sitting here. I’m wrong for trusting her I guess!! So my suggestion is to: call 2 or 3 times to make sure you get the same answer from all 3 Reps. BCBS hire someone who knows their job!! WHO CAN YOU TRUST!! “

Horrible Coverage/Service
The website is horribly complicated. It is impossible to find out what my plan covers or dose not unless you have the medical codes for everything and you call in. The customer service is slow and I have been told completely different things by different representatives. Every time you call customer service be prepared to spend 40-60+ minutes on the phone. Even if its something simple.

Robbing their customers
Ridiculously expensive and they cover nothing with a 7,000 deductible just for 1 person. If I got sick just paying the deductible would make me go broke. Yeah I have a health savings account but I cant afford to put more than $50 a month in so what is the point. It will take me 14 years to reach the deductible amount.

i detest this co but it is better than my last
Clear your entire day if you need to get info from Empire BC BS. It is VERY expensive insurance, you do not get to see the doctors you would like to see (HMO) and dealing with customer service is frustrating at best. You remain on hold forever and are transferred to three different people who put you on hold forever and it leaves such a bad taste in your mouth.

BCBSGA is the absolute worst
Since mid-January, with dozens of calls (hold times over 1 hour, with no resolution; multiple emails; and written complaints), we have tried to change our PCP to an in network doctor. The one assigned is 2.5 hours outside of Atlanta. After 2 months, still no resolution. We can’t even get them to put in writing for us that there system is broken, and we have approval to see this doctor. The customer service transfers us around, takes notes, tells us they will call back, never call back, then it dies. We resurrect it every week. The latest is this: we called a ton of ENT specialists listed on their site, and NONE of them take BCBSGA now. Shocking, I know. BCBS even SENT us the list. OUT OF CONTROL!

Never Again
I’ve had BCBS for years. Never had a problem until coming to South Carolina. They denied a claim for 6 months without reason, just sent a denial, and finally when pressed – claimed I wasn’t a covered individual. Strange considering they had premiums from my paycheck for 9 months…finally when called on it, claimed that the new reason was the lack of an &”, i.e. the claim was submitted to BCBS, not BC&BS. Well two of those initials are correct.
For inauguration day, they announce that effective 1/1, they would no longer cover certain medications I was on. And go figure, those medications were working. Had they told me during open enrollment – I would have investigated another option – now I cannot for 12 months. Let’s not even go into the fact that they notify me that they stopped covering items the day the coverage year started not in advance – but 3 weeks after the fact, and 7 weeks after my coverage decisions were final for the next year.
Instead, they require me to take an alternative, which caused an adverse reaction that nearly put me in the hospital. So, off that medicine – on to another one.
Tell my doctor the new medicine is covered – and 12 hours later at the pharmacy, it is denied. Instead they suggested 1) I should go back on the prior medicine…the adverse reaction will eventually go away. 2) I should take another drug – which I am already on. I point this out, and they suggest I take more. I point out I am at the FDA maximum dose, and they suggest, I should still take more – these maximums aren’t really limits.
So, right now they are refusing to cover a different medicine until I go back on the other medicine. After all, it is MY FAULT I am sick.
My Doctor and I have filed an appeal – BCBS says 3-6 months before a decision. I can’t help but feel like they are hoping I will just die before they have to provide coverage. “

Dishonest and Very Stressful
Last month, I noticed an increase in my premium so I called customer service. A seemingly nice lady told me it was for 2017. I asked if it was for 2017 why did I have to pay one for 2016. The customer service representative had told me that it was a mistake on their part to charge me early. AND that next month in Jan I would only need to pay my 2016 payment price in order to off-set the Dec increase mistake, that after Jan I would resume my new increased payments. To begin with, Blue Shield gave 0 warnings on an increase. I received no emails/mail!
NOW, just got off the phone with another representative, a male this time. I saw that my payments this month were still for the new 2017, so I called to see why. The representative this time was Unhelpful, He was confused most of the time, kept repeating the same information to me even after I told him several times that what he was telling me had nothing to do with my questions. It was Stressful. The guy told me in the most round-about-way why I must pay my 2017 premium this month, and repeatedly kept avoiding my concerns. According to the new representative, the other representative I talked to (the lady) was WRONG! You pay a month in advance. I am new to insurances, so this may be the correct, maybe this guy lied, I don’t know. But someone lied to me. And I wanted someone to look into my conversation with the lady. I asked him if Blue Shield records conversations, he said yes after several attempts to avoid this question. But here is the best part, my previous conversation with the lady was NOT recorded. How convenient. He said he looked it up and doesn’t see a recording. She didn’t log in her location at the time. They can’t trace the call without that or without a confirmation number which she NEVER gave me. This played out too conveniently and is disgusting how they dealt with it. Worse stilling and manipulating company ever
If I could I would give BCBS negative 5 stars or negative to infinity. They word their auto draft agreement so they can take premium” out of your account. You think you are agreeing to an amount, but you actually just give them authority to take whatever they want. They send stupid news letters and junk emails to you to the point of driving you crazy. Yet if you have requested paperless email communications they won’t send important notices that you have actually requested by email such as your premium is going up over $1000. You are required to renew stuff yearly, yet they don’t have to get an actual consistent from you to wipe out your entire bank account, taking out over what you make monthly. Over drawing you by $500 and leaving high and dry. They refuse to make it right stating there was extra crap we were supposed to fill out each year. Yet I am held to a contract I agreed to almost 2 years ago without any additional confrimation or paperwork on their end. They really don’t care if they lead to someone becoming homeless as long as they get their money. I will never ever recommend them to anyone for anything.

All Communication ceased when policy ended
I had an accident with an uninsured driver 10 days before my coverage ended. All communication ceased with BCBS when my coverage ended despite the fact that I had outstanding claims. I got no service statements, NOTHING. Terrible service. Too expensive. Went with another company because of the bad service.

Terrible Company
We purchased health insurance for our 5 year old child November 2016 due to losing coverage through Medicaid. We paid out almost $200. yet we’re not allowed to use it till Jan. 2017 .Our child has serious health issues and needs health insurance to receive the meds he requires. We tried to appeal for a retro start due to his health needs but the review board/ administrators refused to do so. We have had to cancel doctor appointments that were needed to keep him healthy. I will never use this pos company again!!!!

Bcbsga is saving my life everyday!!! Customer service is always very nice and helpful, I have been using them since the Market Place opened, however the coverage is less and more expensive for 2017. We hope to stay with them!! I have a rare disease and ALOT of medical issues, but BCBSGA has been there for me in the past three years. Alot of people complain about this company…I guess I got very lucky!!! I understand that they need to raise the coverage prices I just hope we can afford it!!!! It’s one thing to just exsit in life another thing to live life and so far they have helped me live life….I truly hope that doesn’t change!!! Unhappy because just got letter they are cancelling my plan because it does not meet all requirements of health care reform laws. (Calling it a Legacy Plan). Due to that they picked a comparative plan but my premium will be going up to $579.61 of which I can not afford.

I would like to stay with Blue Cross and Blue Shield. I am insured with them through my employer. I am being forced to give up my insurance because with the company I work for I have to work 1560 hours from Nov 1st to Oct 31st and because my hours were cut I will no longer be eligible.

COBRA coverage in retirement.
I have no issue with this provider except that the COBRA coverage in retirement uses my entire pension check each month. Former employer pays nothing in retirement to this plan.

When I signed up three years a go the monthly cost was $350.00 each year with prescriptions $10.00 the cost has increased to a total of $750.00 and prescriptions now at $25.00 for generic drugs. It is my hope that Mr. Trump will do what he says he will do and allow every insurance company to sell in every state and that should bring down the cost because they will be competing with each other. In a day when not having insurance is not an option Blue Cross thinks they can charge what they want. (Its because they can. People who will not work simply because they don’t want to get insurance free or at a very low price. I believe everyone has the right to affordable insurance but just because I work and make $80,000 a year should not make me have to spend 11.24% or 9,000 of it on insurance. I pay my taxes approximately 28 % plus insurance is 39.24% of my wages and I have not even paid a bill but people that will not work get free or very low cost housing, free food and health care. Please don’t thing that I don’t understand that we have people that can not work for different reasons and I believe we should help but make them take drug text and if fit to work make them work!! Now back to the big insurance. How much profit should a public service company be allowed to make. Our government wants to put their hands in every body’s business NOW IT TIME to get into their business and limit how much a CEO can make for selling a government required product.

I pay an arm and a leg for good insurance for my two children a 5 month old and 2 year old and myself. Twice even though I pay premiums on time I have had my insurance cancelled. The excuse im given is their system cant handle multiple task at once. It is so frustrating to have a sick child and have pay out of pocket for visit because insurance was cancelled even though u paid them. then they issue a check to the wrong address too. I am done with BlueCross BlueShield of Texas.

I hate BCBS
Blue cross blue shield is the worst Health Insurance company I have ever had. Although my back is a mess and I have Spurs from the crumbling disks jabbing into my spinal cord…. Which is causing pain and numbness down my left leg, BCBS denied the claim….. Piss Poor company……

Forced into HMO, no providers
Only individual policy offered in 2016 was an HMO, last year I had a PPO with BCBS. None of my specialists take HMO’s. It’s a crime to have to pay outrageous insurance premiums $664.00 a month, for an individual plan, then have to pay again out of pocket to see a specialist. I will never use BCBS again.

BCBS 3.5 stars? Not worth the hype!
From a simple Google search you will come to find out that BCBS isn’t anything special.
Since I started my membership with them it has been multiple calls (at least 5x) a day just to get a straight answer! Most times you will be left feeling upset about why your even paying your bill(s) in the 1st place only to have that reaffirmed by the poorly trained customer service agents who seem to be guessing instead of finding you a proper answer! I wouldn’t recommend this insurance to my worst enemy! The only good thing out of it is my 600 dollar medication comes out to 100 dollars, HOWEVER, that is limited before they raise your price, never notify you about the change then expect you to be okay with it after you call in. This is just one of my many problems I have had. I don’t think BCBS really cares about it’s customers, they know we are in need of our medication yet they take our money and offer us the bare minium that they can get away with. I am disgusted with my service that sometimes I rather just DIE in pain than to go thru the BS they put me thru and call it service. YEAH.. RIGHT!

Missed open enrollment plan deadline under Obama Care with premium of approx.247.00. Enrolled now in BlueCross/BlueShield Empire Plan with a monthly premium of approx. 566.00. Need lower premium or will be forced to drop insurance. Also with Empire still have many copays.

My Mom's Insurance

Terrible Company
It took 17 phone calls to add my maternity rider, oh and two certified letters and two faxes. Last year, a rep. asked me to call my 5 year old to the phone so she could authorize me to talk to him. I asked for a list of providers to pick a new dr accepting new patients and they gave me three: two with disconnected number and one not accepting new patients. The cost is way too high and I don’t get very much covered. Switching next month!

Worst Health Insurance Ever
BCBS of NM bought Lovelace with whom I was insured and I was assured the coverage would be the same. This company attempted to force me to have surgery done by an incompetent doctor instead of allowing me to go out of network to a qualified surgeon as my urologist/oncologist recommended to them in writing. I changed to United Health Care and have been happy. The people that work in their claims office are incompetent. You get a different person every time you contact them and you get a different answer as to why your claim has not been paid. This is not the old BCBS from a few years ago. These people are Some of the worst in the health care industry.

Self plus one - same cost as Family
I switched from Family option to Self plus one and the cost is 12 dollars less a month! Unbelievable! And they advertise this as something new! I have been paying 460dollars plus my company matches the same amount – so almost 1000 dollars for no 12 years! Premiums too high plus deductible. Cannot wait to change the provider in the open season.

Lack of Support
I have a visa interview at the French Embassy on 18th of May. Today is 11th of May. The embassy requires a letter from the insurance company confirming that my policy covers emergencies while in France.
I called the customer service. The guy confirmed that the letter will be sent to me by mail and will take at least 7 to 10 BUSINESS DAYS!!!
– I asked if there’s any way I can get it before 18th (the interview date)?

– Can I pay the cost of faster mailing system that can guarantee the letter delivering before the 18th?

– Can the letter be sent to me by email? since you say it is now ready?

Worse customer service than the cable company
I decided to switch my policy this year with BCBS, because the policy I previously had with BCBS increased by $90 per month and the coverage was not as good. I did it through the exchange, never received a bill, never received insurance cards, it takes over an hour to get a hold of anyone. Generally they cannot find my info. Next year I will be switching to another company this is outrageous!!!!

Poor Customer service/long waits
I’ve been hung up on. Yelled at. Transferred countless times across their departments. I have to get my ID number every single time I talk to someone, and I usually have to talk between 5 different employees just to get a simple answer. I’m stuck with BCBS, but damn they need to improve how they handle and treat customers that call in.

Worse, lying, expensive insurance company
They are over priced, and the suck at communication. There deductible is super high that why they don’t have to pay. When trying to file my claims I called and the agent told me to go online and get the claim form. I filed my claims twice and they sent me a rejection letter twice saying my information was incorrect, When calling again the agent told me they changed the paperwork and to file you have to take it to were you got your stuff done and have the doctor sign. When doing that (took me two days, since I work 6 days a week and had to travel all around town, and figuring when they work to get them signed), the agent gave me her personal email to send her the information which was the beginning of December. She told me to allow 30 days to file. I got in touch with her in January wondering the status, she said she had to file the docs again because the computer didn’t scan them in correctly, and again wait 30 days, I called in the beginning of February, she went on to tell me that her computer crashed and lost all my info, (which it could have happen) that’s why she didn’t reach out to me, if I could resend her all the claims again, and wait ANOTHER 30 days, In the beginning of March I got in touch with the agent and she told me that two of them went towards my deductible and the other one was paid. When asking for her to give me a statement so I could file thru my secondary insurance, she told me that’s not necessary, and I told her if you were secondary for another customer wouldn’t you want prove the other insurance didn’t pay? She didn’t get back to me for 10 minutes, so I called and talked to a different lady, and she sent it to me in 5 minutes. The original lady sent the paperwork the next day in the afternoon.When I tried to file the two claims that went towards my deductible, my other insurance was asking why was the claims put in March 2nd. So this whole time they were lying to me saying it was put in. When on record it was put in last week.

denied coverage of needed surgery
Currently Blue Cross Blue Shield is denying my wife coverage of a necessary surgery that could keep her out of a wheelchair in the future. Their initial reasoning has the surgery not necessary. The surgeon and her personal doctor seemed to differ with Blue Cross Blue Shield’s initial assessment. We have requested her records and been told that it takes 30 days to get them to us. Her surgeon has also made appeals. But they are still won’t cover it. Now they are stating that she hasn’t gone through physical therapy or taking cortisone shots. But she has gone through physical therapy and it was stopped because it only perpetuated the problem she is also allergic to prednisone which has some of the same chemical compound of cortisone. Yet they still deny coverage. I recommend finding a company that has a proven history of covering necessary surgeries. Or you could be left out in the cold like we are now.

I purchased blue cross blue shield anthem pathway as a private plan I’ve been on this plan a month now for the last three weeks I have been trying to see or find a doctor that’s listed in there provider directory spent over 30 hours on the phone with blue cross very nasty they leave me on hold for hours all providers listed in there directory when I try to make an appointment I ask if they take blue cross pathway they all say they do but will not touch anything blue cross pathway on it some of the listed Drs offices stated that this is a thrash plan they write everything off and do not pay therefore we chose not to accept it I call blue cross back for help and after many hours of no help and rudeness they give me more provider Drs on there bs list.still same problem after 3 weeks no one wants to touch this junk insurace plan. This is not cheap for me I asked for the best plan and this is total junk I received, this is a total scam
