Unhappy
At my congregation, New Life in Lake Zurich, IL, we are not happy about the recent drastic increase in premium. and will begin the process of shopping around for a new carrier.
Second, a Workman’s Compensation claim was made at the end of last year. I was almost killed doing church business. Our claim for one month of compensation was dismissed out of hand. Currently, we’ve been forced–using an attorney– to appeal to the Illinois Commission on Worker’s Compensation, and will be seeking a far greater amount than originally asked for.

We only have an auto policy at this time because the premiums for multi peril and umbrella policies were too expensive. We had to find another company for this coverage.

Great Customer Account Manager

Great service on our claim for hail damage!
We had hail damage to our roof from a storm in May 2018 but did not realize it until late fall 2018. We got estimates from roofers to replace the roof and when the estimate indicated hail damage, I called Church Mutual and filed a claim. They sent out an adjuster who met with our roofing contractor and submitted a claim for us. We heard back in a timely manner, the roof was replaced, the steeple was repainted and the inside of our sanctuary was repainted to cover the water stains from the leak. We were so pleased with the service and follow-up from Church Mutual on our claim. We would recommend them highly for service, cost and efficient responses!

Don't understand
Unity Lincoln is a church. Most Unity’s insure with CM. We trust the company and appreciate being able to call and talk to a knowledgeable person when we need to. The questions here are irrelevant to us. We are not one person. These questions make no sense. I already receive the newsletter, by email & mail and share relevant parts of it with my Board of Trustees.

Good coverage and pricing. Good customer service
We have found that the company provides us with the better service and policy for the needs that we have as a church. Pass claims experience has been great. We plan to renew as we have been satisfied with your service for several years now. just wish the cost would not continue to move upwards.

Getting ahold of someone to talk about our policy always takes a plethora of phone calls, with rarely a call back.
Filed a claim this year. Could never get ahold of the adjuster. Adjuster and the claims rep were never on the same page. Had to call repeatedly and email, usually did not get a call back. Sent invoices for reimbursement on July 8 for items replaced in April. Sent more invoices in August for items replaced. Received NO response. Followed up in September. As of today -11/22/19- Still have not been paid for the September invoices. I did however receive a letter two weeks ago saying that if they did not hear from me they were going to close my claim. Salvage items were left with us, and when I finally threatened to throw them in the dumpster in August (the loss happened January 5), they told me I could dispose of them. Nobody has been rude to us, conversations are polite. It is simply irksome when you are the one repeatedly reaching out and calling trying to wrap things up, and then you get a letter saying if they don’t hear from you they will close the claim! I even emailed the claims rep about the letter- no response. Called again a week later- no response. Called three days later and finally got someone on the line.
I give this review as someone who has a favorable view of insurance companies- both my grandfather, and my father were agents for a very reputable company. I worked for my father for years, was licensed in property and casualty, and life and health. My expectations are IN NO WAY UNREASONABLE.

Give customers the option of monthly payments..
Small businesses and fixed income people could manage their revenue better if Church Mutual allowed monthly premium payments i.e. car, utility, mortgage payments, food, supplies and etc…

Most Satisfactory Service
We had a claim for tornado/wind damage and the claim was handled very professionally and much to our satisfaction. Later a hail damage claim was handled very much the same. Never have had any reason to consider any other company.

CM works well with insured.
Our church had some hurricane damage. I called the office on a Sunday morning after discovering the damage. CM worked faster than our personal insurance company with the turn around time for the adjuster coming till the check being paid.

Disappointed in billing payment amt
Our insurance has increased and we are being told,
the company is requiring us pay the annual payment amount ($24,959, which will definitely put us in a bad situation. If you are concerned, please reconsider. We will do our best going forward, to make our payments timely. Thanks for your consideration!

We have our church buildings and our van insured through Church Mutual. We have never had to file a claim so I can’t comment on that area but when I have had a question or other reason for calling I have always been greeted and treated excellent. All questions answered in a timely manner and asked if there is anything else they can help me with. So refreshing to talk to a person and receive help and/or answers kindly. They leave me feeling like they enjoyed helping me.

Poor timing
Your company just cancelled our coverage with about 2 months notice and declined to help us with liability coverage while we look for another company. Considering the long and warm relationship we have had with our Church Mutual representatives, we were very disappointed at the lack of interest in the effect on us.

It is what we needed at the Church
Every year when we have a renewal, the policy does go up a bit. Is there a good reason other than insurance overall goes up? We are a small denomination and I am curious at the overall pricing of our policy.

disappointment with request regarding security sys
This fall we added several outside security cameras to our system. When our Council president called to ask about any effect on our premiums (and the call was made before the policy renewed), we were told we would have to wait another year. Really NOT good customer service.

Pastor
We have been with Mutual since 2009. Have not filled a claim. But we have received your ‘health check-ups’ of our property risks, which is good. I would like an occasional contact from the agent who pursued us so diligently before we purchased and have maintained the policy, these 10 years. Actual contact with a person at least once a year would be nice. Who knows, it may generate more business.

We've never had any other insurance
We are a very small community (about 6-7 regular attendees) but are required to have insurance per our bylaws. Otherwise, we would not have the policy.

Haven't been motivated to look at competition
We have been covered by CM for more than the 10 years I have been pastor here. Overall we are satisfied and haven’t felt the need to search for alternatives. We like being insured by a company that recognizes how churches are different from businesses. One thing that REALLY annoys me is constantly having to do payroll audit updates. I’m the only employee, and that has not changed for 10+ years now. Surely there must be an easy way to indicate that there have been no changes without having to fill out and return the stupid form every few months?

Almost 2 years later we have had no response from the complaint. She promised it had been done. Where the truth lies I cannot say. But we have been denied a fair hearing from Church Mutual

Great company with which to work.
Claims department is easy to work with regarding filing any claim. Also like how one person is assigned to your claim. Considering our ministry has had several unfortunate/unforeseen situations triggering claims filed in past 5 years – Church Mutual has not sky rocked their pricing to us or dropped us as a client. We appreciate the company continuing to be our insurance provider. I also appreciate that the company sent a Risk Control Consultant to our ministry to point out ways we can make our ministry safe etc.

Church Mutual is huge rip-off
Church Mutual is not a company you want to insure with if you are looking for a professional and honest company that cares about the consumer.
We had a theft of air conditioner copper on a 10 ton and 30 ton air conditioners. Church Mutual did not want to pay to have the air conditioners replaced and gave us pennies compared to what it cost to get the units repaired. The claims adjuster constantly lied about the claim. This company is dishonest and preys on the churches insured with them. I would not recommend this company if you want fair and honest coverage.

My wife was hurt at our local church. We got nothing from them. My wife slipped and was injuried and never was the same. This insurance company is a rip-off. We had over $50000 in medical bills. Not a dime from them to help out.Dont be trap in this crap. Stay away.

Took premiums NO COVERAGE
On May 22, 2016, I submitted a supplement to Office of The Wisconsin State Commissioner of Insurance, that included 4-documents directly from Church Mutual Insurance Company, produced in 2012 and 2013, and an email from the MO Dept of Insurance, produced in 2013, related to the complaint I filed with the (DATCP).
On May 26, 2016, I received an email along with a “Cease & Desist from filing any more consumer complaints letter” , dated May 19, 2016, from a law firm (Bassford Remele, a Professional Association, based in Minneapolis, MN) representing Church Mutual and company employee (though she seems to be unregistered, and unlicensed in any State, pursuant to the Wisconsin Supreme Court Rules, Chapter 20, and Chapter 10, related to the required registration of In-House Counsel), Dawn DeKeyser, threatening me with legal action.
The second and third paragraphs of the d “Cease & Desist” letter specifically state that Church Mutual is well aware of my complaints to governmental agencies, and that I am to “Cease & Desist” from pursuing my Civil Rights to seek redress by petitioning the government (1st Amendment to U. S. Constitution) in violation of my CIVIL RIGHTS. My complaints relate to 3-commercial insurance claims that were all DENIED by Church Mutual.
Church Mutual seized thousands of dollars $$$’s in U. S. Currency, over 25+years, (4th Amendment to U. S. Constitution) allegedly for premiums to pay for commercial general liability, and indemnification insurance coverage for Gospel Temple Church of God In Christ, Inc., and its’ Directors, Officers and Trustees (I have been an officer and director for 11-years), that Church Mutual Insurance Company is now saying the coverage NEVER EXISTED, which to me is equal to illegal seizures ““ THEFT OF INSURANCE PREMIUM MONEY$$$’s from a small non-profit organization, while providing NO COVERAGE AT ALL.

I would recommend nobody do business with these crooks. I give them a 0 on everything. We will drop them and spread the word how this is a front trying to lure good Christian Churches in.

Very Disappointed
We are a good sized church with a $25,000 annual premium with Church Mutual. We had never filed a claim and had followed their policies and dictates thoroughly. We had wind damage and finally filed a claim-the customer service has been disappointing. The claims adjustor told us first day-probably defective workmanship (the wall we filed claim on was built 30 years ago). We have been over 4 months since we filed the claim and now our agent has gone silent. As the engineered we hired for a 3rd party review stated- just the typical insurance company trying to wear you down so they don’t have to pay. It’s disappointing that a company that works with churches treat good church clients this way.

Run away
There was a fire at our church and it totally destroyed it. Church mutual treated us like criminals, or niggers trying to get over. we lost our daycare and church and workers lost there jobs. We had to support them with our savings, we also had to pay to get the building torn down. Our policy was worth money, mind you they gave us a little bit. Mind you they called into my my daycare agency and had me and parents
