The Rundown

  • Prepared Insurance was acquired by Lighthouse Property Insurance Corp.
  • The company offers homeowners insurance and other forms of property and casualty coverage
  • Lighthouse Property Insurance has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau

If you’re looking for homeowners insurance in your area, it’s a good idea to look into the smaller companies to see what they can offer instead of just going with the big names in the business.

Prepared Insurance—which is now owned by the Lighthouse Insurance Corporation—offers homeowners insurance along with other property and casualty insurance products.

There are countless companies like Prepared Insurance across the U.S. that offer insurance coverage in various forms. But the only way to learn about these companies is to do some research.

You can search online for free insurance quotes online to compare these smaller companies with the large corporations we are all more familiar with. You never know which company will offer you the lowest rates until you look at their quotes.

In fact, you can use our free quote tool above to find and compare homeowners insurance rates from different companies in your area to see which would work best for you.

Does Prepared Insurance offer homeowners coverage?

Since Prepared Insurance has been acquired by Lighthouse Insurance Corp., Prepared no longer offers coverage to new policyholders.

But Lighthouse Insurance offers property and casualty insurance options in Florida, Lousiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas.

When it comes to homeowners coverage, Lighthouse offers a very basic package. The company’s homeowners insurance includes both property and liability coverage.

The property coverage with Lighthouse covers loss or damage to your home and belongings, including hurricanes, fire, lightning, windstorm, hail, explosion, smoke, vandalism, and more.

The property coverage also allows for coverage of increased living expenses after a loss if you are unable to live in your home.

Liability coverage with Lighthouse will cover compensation for judgments, legal expenses, and medical costs if and when you are found liable for injuries to others or damage to their property.

The Lighthouse Property Insurance website does not mention any add-ons for homeowners insurance coverage, but you may find the company offers certain additional options if you speak to an agent.

How much are homeowners insurance rates with Lighthouse?

Lighthouse does not offer homeowners insurance quotes on the company website. The company invites potential policyholders to call their number and speak to an agent for more information on their insurance products.

If you are curious how much homeowners insurance costs, homeowners insurance rates vary based on a number of different factors, including:

  • Where you live
  • The cost of your home
  • The coverage you want
  • Your home’s age and condition
  • Your credit score
  • The deductible you want
  • The insurance company you choose

Because of these factors, it’s hard to know how much you’ll pay for your homeowners insurance coverage until you get direct quotes based on your unique information.
