What insurance coverage does Homeowners of America provide?

Homeowners of America provides a total of six insurance policies in the United States:  

  • Condo insurance coverage. Homeowners of America (HOAIC) offers condo insurance policies. According to research from Statista, the average annual cost of condominium insurance in the United States is around $488. If you’re wondering, “I’m about to move into a condo that is owned by my parents. Do I need to buy homeowners insurance or renters insurance?” The answer here is often that you need condo insurance. 
  • Flood insurance coverage. According to FEMA, flooding is the most common and costly natural disaster in the United States.
  • Homeowners insurance coverage. Homeowners insurance coverage protects your home in the event that an incident were to occur. Homeowners insurance will cover losses and any damages to your home that may occur. Documenting damage for homeowners insurance claims will help the process go faster. 
  • Landlord/dwelling fire insurance coverage. Landlord/dwelling fire insurance coverage minimizes the risk for landlords.  This type of insurance protects a landlord’s property from damages that can occur as it is being rented out. Demotech, Inc. is an Ohio-based consulting firm that provides ratings assessing the financial stability of an insurance company. The Homeowners of America Demotech rating is one of the first the company has received since it opened its doors in 2005. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) rated Homeowners of America insurance an A+. Does Homeowners of America offer discounts?

Homeowners of America does offer discounts on its insurance policies. However, the discounts available are not made available to the public. If HOAIC is anything like other home insurance companies, they should offer discounts for new homeowners, or provide safety discounts for homes that have smoke detectors or fire alarms. Once you have spoken with an insurance agent, they should be able to tell you which discounts your account may be eligible for.

While most home insurance companies do not offer coverage for jewelry, Homeowners of America offers optional endorsement coverage can protect your valuables, which is another benefit that policyholders enjoy. Whether it be jewelry misplaced, artwork, or other costly investments, it feels good to know that the items you love can be safe and sound.  


A major disadvantage to Homeowners of America is its limited availability. Since only 14 states can access the company’s home insurance policies, over 36 states will not be able to enjoy HOAIC because they are not located in the right area. Another concerning disadvantage is the company’s level of complaints. Homeowners of America BBB reviews had 21 complaints, many of them specifically expressing their dissatisfaction with the claims process.
