The Rundown

  • SelectHealth is a not-for-profit health insurance provider that operates in Idaho, Utah, and Nevada
  • The Better Business Bureau gives SelectHealth an A+ while the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services rates it a perfect 5-stars
  • There are numerous customer complaints online about how SelectHealth operate as a business

For the past 35 years, SelectHealth has had a single mission: to help people live healthier lives. While there are many ways to be healthy, health insurance is one of the most important, and SelectHealth can help with that.

Healthcare costs are prohibitively expensive in America, and prices are only increasing. Having a health insurance plan is a must if you want affordable healthcare. This is especially true for seniors, who generally need more medical attention than younger people. In the U.S., seniors have access to Medicare to help offset the cost of healthcare for any budget.

However, Medicare can only cover so much. If you need more healthcare coverage than Original Medicare provides, affordable SelectHealth Advantage plans can supplement your coverage to fill in the gaps.

Whether you have Medicare already or you’ll be eligible soon, you can compare SelectHealth Advantage rates with other companies to find the best insurance. Enter your ZIP code into our free tool to see what quotes might look like for you.

SelectHealth Medicare Advantage

More than 60 million Americans depend on Medicare for their healthcare. Seniors that pay into Medicare with their taxes are eligible for Original Medicare coverage when they turn 65. Original Medicare includes Parts A and B.

Part A is sometimes called hospital insurance. Medicare Part A covers your healthcare if you need to go to the hospital. This includes visits for planned surgery and emergency visits for things like injuries, illnesses, or other crises.

Part B covers outpatient care. This is the insurance that will pay for your regular doctor visits, home healthcare, and preventative care. Additionally, you can get medical equipment like wheelchairs or walkers through Part B.

You can also get Part D, which covers prescription medicines. There are two ways to get Part D: you can sign up for a Part D plan in addition to Original Medicare, or you can get a Medicare Advantage plan.

Original Medicare ensures millions of older Americans can go to the doctor whenever they need to. However, that doesn’t mean that they’re completely covered.

Medicare Advantage fills in the gaps in your insurance and gives you the chance to add additional coverage. Also known as Part C, Medicare Advantage plans are run by private insurance providers and combine Parts A, B, and D into one convenient policy.

The few that are positive state that they like the ease of access on the website through the SelectHealth employer login or SelectHealth Advantage OTC login. The representatives also have a reputation for good customer service.

As for professional ratings, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) gives SelectHealth an A+. There are complaints against the company on the BBB site, but not an overwhelming amount.

The good news for Medicare customers is that most negative reviews are for other products. SelectHealth has an overall 5-star rating from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services. Its health plan services received 5 stars, while the drug plan got 4.5.
